Viticultural Assistance on viticultural matters for shareholders is obtained from an in house viticultural officers at no charge to the shareholder. The Australian wine industry presently enjoys very favourable market conditions. This has largely come about due to the greater quality of wines coming from areas such as the irrigated districts along the Murray River. Maintaining this situation will be highly dependant upon further improving wine quality. Any new vineyards planted to premium varieties are expected to satisfy the demand for export quality bottled wine products. Unlike in the past this demand cannot be met simply by planting more vineyards. New vineyards must produce high quality grapes in order to better secure the future market prospects. To support this improvement and so secure these market prospects, CCW provides technical advice for quality grape production through members’ access to its own Viticultural Officers. One on one consultancies are available to all members and are delivered through property visits or through other contacts. The information offered includes any item with regard to: • soil and irrigation management • pest and disease control • fertilising practices • economic and financial analysis of production There are a number of projects currently being undertaken by CCW on a wide range of topics and for those growers involved, CCW facilitates group activities including field days, seminars, workshops, wine tastings and excursions. Identifying and promoting higher value opportunities for growers remains a priority for CCW and as further opportunities come to hand they are presented.
